Microneedling & Collagen Induction Therapy
Mesotherapy
InnoPen
InnoPen is part of a family of “skin-friendly” products based upon the “mesotherapy” concept. InnoPen doesn’t burn your skin (IPL/laser), dissolve it (chemical peels), or abrade and scrape it (dermabrasion). InnoPen gently stimulates your skin with 13 very fine “bristles” that encourage natural collagen production.
Collagen is what your body produces to keep your skin healthy. The “mesotherapy-effect” also greatly increases penetration of therapeutic topical serums and other applications that contain growth factors, multi-peptides, vitamins, liposomals, herbs, and hair growth formulas (e.g., O2P, Propecia, Minoxidil). Clinical studies from Europe, U.S. and South Korea have proven that InnoPen increases serum absorption by as much as 1,000 times.

Mesotherapy
The term Mesotherapy uses Greek “mesos” and “therapeia” to describe methodology that applies non-surgical medicinal treatment techniques to the ‘middle’ layer of the skin. Mesotherapy describes a range of techniques that may be applied to a wide range of maladies, but in the case of InnoPen, the method is cosmetic. The “mesotherapy-effect” of MTS stimulates the skin to produce collagen without removing the top layer of skin. MTS does not inject serums or solutions; it only permits deeper infusion of topical applications (e.g., anti-aging serums) thereby increasing effectiveness.
Treatment
What areas of the body can InnoPen treat?
InnoPen can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
Can InnoPen make Hyperpigmentation less noticeable?
Yes. InnoPen Pro and MD models can help to inhibit hyperpigmentation. This is where collagen induction can easily aid the skin without abrading the epidermis. Several treatments from a specialist are required to even out skin tone and get rid of hyperpigmentation.
Can InnoPen make large pores shrink?
Yes, by way of inducing the skin to produce collagen which thickens the skin and tightens the surface. Collagen production is stimulated through the action of the InnoPen. Additional benefit can be gained by microdermabrasion which can give added benefit by loosening clogged pores thereby allowing them to return to their natural shape and size.
Does InnoPen smooth acne scarring?
By inducing production of collagen and elastin, InnoPen does something that no other treatment method can do–without removing the top layer of the skin. Within the first treatment with InnoPen™, patients notice diminished superficial acne scars. After the 3rd treatment, deeper acne scars will begin to fill in. By the 5th and 6th treatment, patients experience results similar to a deep chemical peel or laser resurfacing.
Process
What does a treatment with InnoPen feel like?
The feeling associated with the InnoPen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. We strongly recommend the use of our Numb Master topical anesthetic prior to each treatment for added comfort. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied treatment solution also makes the treatment more tolerable.
Do I have to use certain products with InnoPen?
Yes. CRL has succeeded in making our entire product line safe to use prior to and following microneedling treatments. The use of products without our special formulations can result in burning, stinging, discomfort, excessive redness and possible infection. Ask your skin care professional about what products are right for your needs.
Can you use Microdermabrasion with InnoPen?
Yes. In fact, InnoPen is compatible with most other non-ablative treatment modalities. For instance, some patients may notice scaling on the skin as a result of the InnoPen in action. To start, you may use no more than a mild ablative wash to smooth out the scaling. After about the first 6 months when InnoPen treatments are given ample time to thicken the skin then you may undergo microdermabrasion treatment to help exfoliate. Microdermabrasion will further stimulate collagen production and even out skin texture and tone.
Candidates
Who is a likely candidate for InnoPen?
InnoPen can be used on all types of skin, on all skin colors, and can address a wide range of problems such as acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles. This allows for more versatility than lasers, chemical peels, or other common ablative skin treatments which are sensitive to darker skin types.
Can InnoPen help men?
Absolutely. In fact, many men find InnoPen™ treatment less intimidating than the preparations required for other methods because it is a bit like getting a shave at a barber.
Is there anyone who should not use InnoPen?
InnoPen should not be used in patients with Active Cold Sore (Herpes Simplex Virus) and Acne, Keloid Scars or Raised Scarring, History of Eczema, Psoriasis or other chronic conditions, Presence of Raised Moles, Warts or Raised Lesions on Treatment Area, New Scar Tissue/Wounds. Absolute Contraindications include: Scleroderma, Active bacterial or fungal infection, Women who are Pregnant or Nursing.
Results
What is the downtime and what side effects should I expect?
The total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin, the depth of repair process required, and how aggressive the treatment is performed. Most patients have some slight swelling, heat and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-3 days. Some patients may heal completely in 24 hours.
Can I wear make-up immediately following an InnoPen procedure?
Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen 2-3 days following their InnoPen treatment depending on the area and type of treatment performed.
Are there clinical studies to back up the claims of InnoPen?
Yes. Comparison clinical studies conducted by leading dermatological universities in South Korea have also shown that MTS microneedling devices are more effective in increasing the thickness of the skin than IPL and just as effective as ablative treatments (chemical peel, dermabrasion, laser resurfacing) and non-ablative machine-based treatments like CO2 laser, Fraxel, and Thermage. Additional studies on the mesotherapy concept have been conducted by other leading universities in Germany, South Africa, Australia, and by practitioners in the United States. Moreover, clinical acceptance of this method is growing rapidly in the U.S.; the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that mesotherapy grew 505% from 2005 to 2006 while other treatment methods have either subsided (e.g., Botox injections, -3%, dermabrasion, -28%) or flattened (chemical peel, 0%).
