Fat Dissolving Injections (Lipolysis)-1
Fat Dissolving Injections
Lipolysis
Some fat deposits can be tough to get rid of. They commonly occur on parts of the body that are difficult to treat with exercise, leaving you with a double chin, flabby thighs or hips.
But now there’s a solution for these problem zones: the lipolysis injection. Lipolysis is a controlled method for dissolving small, stubborn fat deposits.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Which Areas Can Be Treated With Lipolysis?
Lipolysis injections are composed of Phosphatidylcholine (PC), which is found in human cell membranes, and Deoxycholic acid (DC), which is found in human bodies as bile acids to help dissolve the fats that we ingest. It is injected into fat pockets, where it dissolves fat cells that are then eliminated from the body through the lymph system. The medication does not enter the bloodstream and so cannot affect the rest of your body or cross the blood-brain barrier. It is minimally invasive and quite effective. These problem zones usually treated are the abdomen, hips, knees, upper arms or upper legs (saddlebags), which are often impossible to shift even with a healthy diet and exercise. Facial issues can also be alleviated (deep ‘puppet’ smile lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth, eye bags, double chin, hamster cheeks) making lipolysis treatment an invaluable aesthetic option.
What Does Lipolysis Treatment Entail?
The lipolysis injection is ideally suited for tackling smaller fat deposits. PC/DC is injected into the area using a micro needle. Results are visible and fully achieved after a few treatments. For best results, these injections should be repeated approximately three times, at intervals of 6 weeks.
Are There Any Risks With Lipolysis Treatment I Should Be Aware Of?
The risks with injection-lipolysis are extremely low in comparison to surgical liposuction, and even bruising and swelling are far more common during surgical liposuction. Treatment costs are also much lower with lipolysis treatment. Dr. Nadel will review all of the possible risks associated with the procedure.
Does Lipolysis Also Help Reduce Cellulite?
Yes! Treatment with lipolysis injections has a firming effect on the skin, so mesotherapy is also suitable for combating cellulite.
Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Dissolving Injections?
Fat dissolving injections are ideal for patients who do not want to undergo surgical procedures like liposuction. Patients with stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise are ideal candidates for lipolysis.
What Can I Expect During the Consultation?
Your consultation will involve a physical examination and evaluation of your medical records to determine if you are a candidate for fat dissolving injections. Tell us about any past treatments you have tried for fat reduction.
We will personalize your lipolysis treatment plan based on your goals and the areas you would like to reduce in volume. You can ask questions anytime during the consultation.
What Will Happen During Treatment?
The treatment will start by administering topical anesthesia to minimize discomfort. The fat dissolving injections will then be injected into the target areas to dissolve fat. The procedure usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the treatment areas.
Is There a Recovery Process?
No recovery process is needed after fat dissolving injections. The patient can go home right after treatment. They may feel a swelling and burning sensation in the treatment area for a few days. This happens while the fat tissues are being dissolved.
How Much Do Fat Dissolving Injections Cost?
The price of fat dissolving injections will depend on the treatment plan. The number of injections and the number of treatment areas may be considered when determining the total cost.
